Google Cast rolls out to Samsung TVs

Although Samsung is probably best known for its phones, we’d like to think that the brand has also had some success with some of its other product categories as well. The brand is one of the largest TV manufacturers in the world, so you can imagine how important it’s to have certain features on these devices, especially if you’re an owner.

Although Samsung TVs have had the ability to screen mirror and cast from devices, it’s now adding Google Cast to its resume by introducing the feature with its new TVs for 2026. While better hardware and software features are important, this is probably one of the biggest software additions to this year’s Samsung TVs.

More Google products on Samsung

As you can imagine, this can be quite useful if you’re looking to share personal content on the big screen. While this was thought to be an exclusive feature to new TVs, it looks like older TVs are also getting this feature as well. 9to5Google reports that folks from the internet are starting to chime in, sharing that the Google Cast feature is also showing up on pre-2026 models.

This feature allows users to seamlessly stream apps and media from their device to any supported display. You can also use your device to control apps being cast onto the screen as well. Now, before you go running to your TV to start casting, it has to be said that it’s unclear at this point which TVs are getting the update.

The interesting part is that there are earlier reports of Google Cast appearing on older models from some months ago. So again, at this point, we can only say that it would be worth checking to see if any new updates make this feature available for your model. In addition to Google Cast, Samsung TVs are also getting an added boost that brings Google Photos to the big screen.

The only bad news about this feature is that it’s currently limited to Samsung’s 2026 lineup. However, there’s a pretty good chance that it will arrive on other Samsung TVs in the future. There’s also a pretty good chance that we’ll see Photos launch on other TV brands as well. When Samsung announced this feature at CES, it also shared that Google Photos would be exclusive to Samsung TVs for six months.

So, if you have an older Samsung TV, you’ll have to wait it out for Google Photos. However, you can update your older model Samsung TV to the latest software to see if you have access to Google Cast. Give it a try and let us know what you find on your particular model.
