The Samsung Galaxy S26 range has been a huge smash hit for Samsung, blowing apart pre-order records and setting a new standard for what the Korean company can expect from its flagship phone brand.
We now have a much better idea of quite how well the newest Samsung flagships have done in their first three weeks, thanks to data from Counterpoint Research (via Android Authority). It turns out, the Galaxy S26 range is doing far better than the Galaxy S25 range did at the same point, and that’s a massive win for Samsung.
Everyone is buying the Ultra again
It should come as no surprise to anyone that the S26 Ultra is the best selling model again, and once again, by quite the wide margin.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is the best-selling model in the new S26 range, outselling the Plus and S26 models by more than the two of those models put together. Scoring a massive 71% of all US Galaxy S26 sales, the Ultra has actually increased its lead over the two smaller models compared to last year, increasing its share by 10%.
It’s pretty much a no contest with the Ultra as the winner, as it always is. But the interesting point is how much the Ultra’s share has increased over its stablemates.
Samsung has known for a while it needs to spice up the Plus and standard model, but these results make that even more stark. We’re already seeing rumors that Samsung will be adding a smaller Galaxy S27 Pro to the range in 2027, and that smaller Ultra-by-another-name may hopefully be enough to reverse this trend.
But the other story here is the enormous increase in sales over the previous lineup. According to the graph above, Samsung saw a huge 29% bump in sales numbers compared to last year.
To some extent, we knew this would be the case, thanks to the Galaxy S26’s high pre-order numbers, but it’s incredible to see it boost US sales by almost a third.
Samsung seems to be able to do no wrong where smartphone sales are concerned, with sales having increased year-over-year for the last few years at least. Some part of that is likely down to the relative lack of alternative options in the US market, but even with that taken into account, it’s clear Samsung is doing something right.
This growth can’t last forever, but it seemingly won’t be stopped with the Galaxy S26 range.
