Xfinity Mobile is crushing the competition, delivering a better overall experience, along with faster download speeds. At least, that’s what Opensignal says in its latest report. Now, this might be quite surprising, considering that T-Mobile and other carriers have always been on top for the past couple of years. But it looks like things are starting to change.
The new king of cellular?
Now, the only catch here is that Xfinity Mobile isn’t available to everyone, and you can only subscribe to the service if you’re an existing Xfinity customer with one of its other products, like home internet or TV service. Another issue is that Xfinity is not available in all regions within the US, supplying connectivity in just some parts in 41 states.
However, if you have the chance to sign up, we recommend it. We’ve tested Xfinity service on our own and found that it was pretty good, offering great speeds and prices. It also offers a variety of plans in order to provide the best coverage for its customers. Plus, Xfinity has made changes in the past that actually increase performance.
So, with all that said, it’s easy to see why the carrier is sitting at the top of Opensignal’s latest report. AT&T does come in at the top when it comes to upload speeds, offering nearly double its competitors. While Xfinity isn’t hitting all its marks in the tests, it does sit in line with the rest of the pack, still making it a good choice when it comes to cellular service.
Although Xfinity is winning on the cellular front, it looks like the big three, Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile, are focusing their efforts on home internet. We’ve seen this shift over the past few years, with cellular carriers changing their business strategy to home or office internet services. T-Mobile has been especially aggressive in this segment, buying companies to expand its reach.
I think overall, you don’t really have to worry too much about your cellular service. The competition is high, which means that brands are doing all they can to provide the best service possible for an even better price. We’ve seen huge providers offer new promotions every few months, and even pre-paid carriers are doing quite a bit to lure in new customers.
