Google’s new $100 Gemini plan takes on ChatGPT Pro and Claude Max

Amidst a barrage of AI and Gemini-related announcements, Google unveiled a new AI plan at the opening keynote of I/O 2026. As previously leaked, the company is introducing a new $100 AI plan, and in typical Google naming fashion, it is branding it as Ultra, despite already using the same name for its existing $250 plan.

The new AI Ultra plan costs $100 per month and provides up to 5x higher usage limits than the Pro plan. It will also get you access to Gemini Spark when it launches later this year.

Other perks include 20TB storage — 4x more than the $20 Pro plan, along with a YouTube Premium Individual subscription.

As part of the plan, Google will provide $40 in monthly Google Cloud credits. Subscribers will also receive 10,000 Flow Credits to use across Google’s AI-powered creative tools for content creation.

Google is keeping the $250 Ultra plan as well for users with more demanding needs, but dropping its price to $200 per month. Compared to the AI Pro plan, it provides 20x higher usage limits.

It’s clear that Google is positioning its new AI plan as a competitor to ChatGPT Pro and Claude Max, both of which offer plans with high usage limits for $100 and $200 per month.

Google AI Pro plan gets another value addition

For most users, Google’s $20 per month AI Pro tier offers the most value for money among its AI plans. The company recently increased the plan’s appeal by expanding the included storage from 2TB to 5TB. It is now making the tier even more attractive by bundling YouTube Premium Lite at no additional cost.

This comes just a month after Google offered select AI Pro subscribers 50% off YouTube Premium for 12 months.

With YouTube Premium Lite, you get an almost ad-free experience on YouTube except when viewing music videos and Shorts. If you don’t care about YouTube Music, this plan makes the most sense.

YouTube Premium Lite costs $8.99 per month on its own. So, bundling it with the AI Pro plan only helps to increase the overall value of Google’s $20 subscription.
