These early Galaxy S27 ‘Pro’ leaked specs give us an idea about this mini-Ultra

What you need to know

  • Another round of Galaxy S27 Pro rumors suggest Samsung might integrate a 6.4-inch display for this model.
  • Other rumors suggest that it could grab the Ultra’s main and ultrawide cameras, but it’s telephoto could differ.
  • Galaxy S27 Pro rumors got started in April, and the device still seems poised to serve as an Ultra alternative.

Some people are probably still mulling over the Galaxy S26 series, but that’s not stopping these Galaxy S27 rumors from talking about a “Pro” addition.

A report from ETNews (Korean) claims that Samsung is working on a Galaxy S27 “Pro” for next year’s lineup and details its OLED display (via 9to5Google). This rumor suggests that Samsung is working on a screen that it has “never attempted before.” While this wording seems grand, the report says that this might boil down to the screen’s size.

Allegedly, the Galaxy S27 Pro is being developed with a 6.4-inch OLED panel. If true, then it would find itself right between the base model and the Plus; however, that might be its only kinship with those two phones. The publication cites its sources in saying that the Galaxy S27 Pro might “share” more specifications with the Ultra. What’s more, it purports that Samsung might go this route to “expand consumer choices.” On a related note, there was another S27 Pro report that highlighted its camera (via GSMArena).

Ice Universe was on the Chinese social media platform, Weibo, stating the S27 Pro could feature “the same” main and ultrawide cameras as the Ultra. What’s more, the company could switch things up by integrating “entirely new sensors” for those lenses. The only outlier the tipster discussed was the telephoto, as the S27 Pro could differ in this regard.

Is the Pro real this time?

We started getting Galaxy S27 Pro rumors in April, and we’re unsure if this is another instance of the boy who cried wolf. Rumors suggest the S27 series will consist of four phones. The fourth being the S27 Pro. Similar to one statement from EtNews, those rumors also said the Pro would bring “Ultra-like features,” but minus the S Pen for a compact design.

What’s got us a little hesitant is that we heard “Pro” rumors for the Galaxy S26 series, too. A phone like that wasn’t at Samsung’s January Unpacked, so those rumors have revved their engines again for the S27 series. We’re only in May, and the Galaxy S27 series isn’t expected until early 2027, anyway. We have time to see if these rumors have any merit.

Android Central’s Take

Hearing “Pro” for a phone feels a bit normal. Samsung doesn’t have a Pro model (that goes without saying). We’re typically treated to a base phone, a Plus, and an Ultra. While these new rumors give us an inkling about what it could bring, it sounds like Samsung might try to toe a few lines. A smaller screen for consumers who don’t like an Ultra-level display, but with the internals that give a little more. Things are interesting right now.
