Samsung could slowly trickle more missing Galaxy AI features on the Galaxy S25

What you need to know

  • After One UI 8.5, rumors say Samsung could introduce more S26 AI features on the Galaxy S25 series.
  • It’s been reported that the June security update could bring Samsung’s Priority and Summary AI notifications.
  • One UI 8.5 started rolling out for several of Samsung’s past-gen phones earlier in May.

There’s some talk on social media that the “next-gen” Galaxy AI features the Galaxy S25 received this month won’t be all we can expect.

Rumors got underway this week, thanks to a post by Tarun Vats who claims Samsung’s next update could introduce more Galaxy AI features on the S25 (via SamMobile). Like most companies, Samsung works on monthly security patches for its supported devices. Vats claims that the Korean OEM’s June update could bring two missing Galaxy AI features: Priority and Summarize Notifications.

The post reminds users that these two features are available on the Galaxy S26 series; however, the One UI 8.5 patch did not include them for the S25. Even Vats themselves suggest caution surrounding this leak, as it may or may not happen next month. Users were quick to respond to the rumors, asking if anything similar would hit the Galaxy S24 series.

While One UI 8.5 has made its way to that two-year-old series, Vats states that there’s “no info” to support Priority and Summarize Notifications on the S24. Curiously, Galaxy S25 users might be in for an improved fingerprint reader experience. One user asked if the “improve accuracy” option for fingerprints (available on the S26) will hit the S25. Vats offered speculation, stating, “I think that will also be added.”

Samsung typically begins rolling out its monthly security patches early in their respective months, so perhaps we’ll get our answers next week.

The Galaxy S25 series is strong (performance-wise) to keep up with Samsung’s latest AI features, but consumers with those phones are still missing out. Much like Vats notes, SamMobile mentioned the lack of Now Nudge and the AI-enhanced Finder app on the S25 series. My colleague Derrek Lee got to play with the Galaxy S26 series a little early, and Samsung’s Now Nudge deserved a brief word.

In his testing, Now Nudge reminded Derrek of Google’s Magic Cue. Now Nudge works by surfacing “relevant” information and contextual suggestions. A key example Derrek was shown was someone asking about a photo in a text message. Now Nudge saw it, understood the assignment, and produced a “Share photos” button for the user. It basically took him to a selection of photos taken in Australia, which is what the other person asked for.

It’s been a couple of weeks, but Galaxy S25 users (and the S24) have finally received One UI 8.5. After months and months of testing and small delays, Samsung’s patch is available for its recent (past-gen) phones. Users are in for a refreshed user interface, AI call screening, and more AI image editing tools.

Android Central’s Take

It’s the little (not-so-little) AI features like this that Samsung has that matter more. These are the utilities, the AI features that help users complete tasks a little faster. These AI notifications bring more urgency and presence to alerts that you just can’t miss. Moreover, the summarization part is just helpful for longer texts. My hope is that all of the AI features the S26 has will hit the S25. That might be too grand a hope, as perhaps there are minute capabilities the newer series has to support these features.
