Sameer Samat, president of the Android ecosystem at Google, announced the changes on X.
Scanning documents from a phone is a pain!
Glad to see the new document scanning experience in Google Drive on Android is rolling out now.

The first one, Smart Batch Scanning, is a real time-saver. It lets you hold your camera above multiple documents to scan them all at once as separate files. In the example video, a trio or receipts is turned into separate documents, making record-keeping much easier.
For anyone who fumbles with their phone and ends up with several shots of the exact same page, Duplicate Detection is designed to eliminate extras.
Auto-Best Frame substitutes the sharpest frame for a blurry one, saving multiple retakes to get a scan just so.
Lastly, the scanner handles everything on-device, so it’s privacy-friendly and can operate offline.
Fresh out of beta
The features are currently rolling out.
You can find the document scanner in Google Drive by opening the app and taping the camera icon at the bottom right of the screen.
