Google Photos finally gives custom stickers a home on Android

Back in February, Google announced that Android users would be able to create custom stickers from their own photos. As you can imagine, it’s a pretty fun addition, allowing you to express yourself in your own unique way in supported apps, like Google Messages, WhatsApp, Line, and more. And while things were already pretty good, it looks like custom stickers are getting even better, with Google now storing and saving your creations going forward.

A small but welcome enhancement

The news comes from 9to5Google, sharing that custom stickers will now be in the Collections tab. This tab will show all the custom stickers you’ve created, providing easier access when needed.

The news outlet also states that this should be rolled out to all users, and is now available in Google Photos version 7.78. If you’ve yet to update your app, you’ll want to do that now in order to gain access to this feature.

9to5Google states that you should have access to this if you see a Collections tab or there’s a prompt in the app stating that custom stickers will now be saved in Collections.

We love it when Google makes some welcome updates, especially with Photos. Most recently, the brand made it easier to export your photos from the service if needed. While you’ll still use the Takeout tool, you can now do incremental exports to save your time.

This is a pretty big deal, especially if you’re someone with a huge library stored in the cloud. You can even make things easier by scheduling future exports as well. Of course, not all updates to Google Photos are wins.

We’ve seen some cases where things become broken, or things just aren’t as good as they used to be, with the most recent case where folks are voicing their concerns about the Ask Photos search powered by Gemini.

Luckily, the overall experience with Google Photos is still pretty good. And it’s an easy service and app to recommend if you’re someone with an Android phone and lots of photos and videos. If you have yet to give it a try, you can download it for free from the Play Store.
