Here’s How Call Of Duty: Warzone Might Change For Halloween

Call of Duty: Warzone players have heard mysterious and creepy sounds while playing over the last week. The sound of children laughing in the distance, along with other spooky noises in different areas of the map, has built up a lot of excitement for the battle royale’s first seasonal event: the Haunting of Verdansk.

The Haunting of Verdansk will be Warzone’s first seasonal event and could be bringing some fresh ideas to Verdansk. While few details about the Haunting of Verdansk have been officially confirmed, players believe that a night mode, zombies, and other creepy surprises are coming to Warzone on October 20 when the event begins.

One of the biggest potential changes will be a night mode that puts Verdansk under a moonlit sky. The mode was showcased for a few moments in the Season 6 trailer as shown in the video below. Warzone players have wanted a night mode for months, and they hope that it isn’t restricted to a limited-time mode.

The night mode is one of the few changes that players are certain is coming, although they hope more environmental tweaks come with the event. Among the ideas that fans have proposed are fog and more subtle noises, like ghost footsteps, that pop up randomly throughout the map to give certain buildings a haunted vibe.

Dataminers have also found evidence of a zombie royale mode in the game’s files. The mode, revealed by now-deleted tweets from the ModernWarzone Twitter account, will have dead players come back to life as zombies and “consume fallen player’s hearts” in order to revive themselves. We don’t know how the mode work beyond that, though.

Leaked audio lines, including one that says “zombies aren’t affected by the gas” further suggests zombies getting will be added to Verdansk as either NPCs or a respawn method where players become zombies after they die. This wouldn’t be the first time zombies have been included in a CoD battle royale. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode featured zombies roaming around several locations on its map

The Haunting of Verdansk runs from October 20 to November 3. It’s just one of the pieces of Infinity Ward’s Warzone Season 6 roadmap.
