Google’s Nest Audio and Mini are officially discontinued, but here’s what that actually means

After months of speculation and hints that the brand would debut something new for 2026, Google revealed its new smart speaker this week with the Google Home Speaker. Now, normally we wouldn’t get too excited about a smart speaker, but it had been years since Google released something new in this space, so to say that people were ready would be a huge understatement.

Of course, with Google, it’s out with the old and in with the new, which means its Nest Mini and Nest Audio speakers are no longer available. It’s something that we assumed would happen since the products were so old, but Android Authority has it on record from Google that those products are no longer in production.

Now, to be clear, that doesn’t mean that the Google Nest Mini and Audio are going to stop working. So, if you have either of these speakers, you can still continue to use them without any issues. However, software support will be very limited. And if you’re looking to buy a new Nest Mini or Nest Audio, we recommend you get it now because stock will become scarce at third-party retailers.

And chances are, if you’ve been following the news, you were already aware that this was an issue with these two products. For the most part, it shouldn’t be a big deal, as the new Home Speaker is better in nearly every way compared to the old products.

The Home Speaker features a 2.0GHz quad-core processor with an NPU, 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of EMMC storage. The speaker also boasts a 58 mm full-range driver, three far-field microphones, and a two-stage hardware mute switch. In addition, you get touch controls, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.4.

As you would expect, you get Gemini for Home, making it easy to communicate with the speaker and other connected devices. And when it comes to the price, the new speaker costs $100 and comes in four different colors.
