T-Mobile’s free year of DashPass starts July 14, but it won’t offset the carrier’s latest price hike

T-Mobile customers were hit with some pretty devastating news yesterday: the carrier is retiring legacy plans. This is effectively raising prices for all its legacy customers, which, as you can imagine, leaves customers pretty frustrated. Despite this new move, T-Mobile is adamant that it can provide better service by moving its customers over to its new 5G plans.

While it’s disappointing to see such a great carrier raising its prices, that seems to be the norm these days for most carriers, unless you’re going with a prepaid option. With that said, T-Mobile is still offering its great perks though, with an offer for a year of DoorDash DashPass going live in just a couple of weeks.

This is a perk that we’ve seen before, but it requires T-Mobile customers to constantly refresh their free subscription each time it comes around. Starting on July 14, T-Mobile customers will be able to use the T-Life app to subscribe to a year of DoorDash DashPass for free.

If you think you’ll forget, you can always head into the T-Life app right now and save it to get a reminder when it becomes available. The great thing about this perk is that you get free deliveries, along with discounted fees on other services that DashPass offers.

While it’s primarily focused on getting takeout food to your door, it can also be used for groceries as well. You can also earn 5% back if you choose to use DashPass for pickup orders. It’s a pretty good perk to have, especially when it’s not going to cost you a thing.

The only thing you need to worry about is the yearly renewal rate that can come at the end of the free year. So, just be aware of that and cancel it ahead of that if you don’t want to be charged. While this is a nice perk, it’s not going to take away the sting of retiring its legacy plans.

Long-term T-Mobile customers will now have to decide whether everything that T-Mobile offers is worth the increased prices. While one price change is fine, we’ve seen a few of these price changes pop up over the past few years. Maybe it’s time to move to something different?

If you’re looking for just good service without a lot of extras, Visible might be a good way to go. If you’re a T-Mobile customer, let us know in the comments if you’ll be moving on from Magenta.
