We’re just a month away from the launch of the Pixel 11, and it could be an exciting release if the rumors turn out to be true. While the usual hardware upgrades are nice, this year’s biggest feature could end up being Pixel Glow. And despite the launch being a month away, we just got word of all the different colors that will be released.
Hardware is just one part of the experience when it comes to Pixel phones. So we can’t wait to see what software features specific to the Pixel lineup arrive when the Pixel 11 is released. While the big ones will gain the most exposure, it’s always the small ones that truly make the phones better during day-to-day use.
Small, powerful, and a long time coming
With that said, it looks like Android Authority has uncovered a feature that could arrive in a future version of Android that will introduce a slider to more sections that need volume adjustments for their audio components. As you can imagine, this can be very handy, because it eliminates an extra step that’s in the current iteration of Android.
The news outlet highlights how it discovered the change in an “unreleased build found in Pixel 11 firmware.” As far as which section gets the change, well, in its current form, the ringtones, notification sounds, and alarm sections all have this new volume slider adjustment. There are some other customizations in the works, but they weren’t able to be activated.
While it’s always exciting to see new features pop up in the code, it’s important to note that these are works in progress. There’s a chance that we could see it in the next update, or we may never see it at all. It’s a double-edged sword having this knowledge because you want it to become public with an official release, but if it never arrives, it just ends up being a disappointment.
Google’s always working to make its software better, expanding beyond its yearly release of new versions of Android with different semi-major updates along the way. It’ll be interesting to see what it brings in August with the Pixel 11. Luckily, we won’t have to wait long to find out, with the Pixel 11 launch set for August 12 in New York.
We know that the Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro will be hot sellers, but it’ll be interesting to see whether Google can finally get its footing with its foldable. Google’s going to be facing some stiff competition when it comes to foldable phones this year, with Samsung and Apple releasing new models, and even diving into different form factors.
