I’ll always be the first person to recommend Garmin smartwatches — especially when they’re on sale. If you’re in the market for a high-performance smartwatch designed for serious athletes and adventurers, one of Garmin’s most elite options is the cheapest it’s ever been.

As of Aug. 24, the Garmin Fenix 8 (AMOLED, 47mm) is down to $849.98 at Amazon. That’s 23% or $250 off its list price of $1,099.99 and, according to our favorite price-tracking tool, its best price on record. While it’s not the first time we’ve seen the price drop this low, it is the first time this year.

Garmin covers a wide range of smartwatches, from entry-level to advanced to premium. The Fenix 8 falls in the premium category, hence the price tag. It’s designed for athletes who want to push beyond their limits and packs advanced strength training features, dive capability, and performance-tracking stats you won’t find on most watches. Now in its eighth edition, the Fenix 8 has upped its smart features as well by adding an internal speaker and microphone for voice-messaging and calls. It still doesn’t have cellular connectivity, so you’ll need to carry your phone with you to use these features, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction.

Other perks include a built-in LED flashlight and up to 16 days (!) of battery life in smartwatch mode. Apple Watches can’t even make it two full days, in comparison. When Mashable’s reviewer tested a previous iteration of the Fenix smartwatch, they called it a “maximalist watch for hardcore, data-loving athletes and explorers” and the Fenix 8 is still exactly that, plus more. Now $250 cheaper than usual, we’re much more inclined to recommend it to serious athletes.
