While Google provided a modicum of upgrades with the rest of the Pixel 11 models this year — the Pixel 11 Pro, 11 Pro XL, and 11 Pro Fold have new camera modules, brighter OLED panels, and faster charging — the standard Pixel 11 is basically unchanged to its predecessor.
So, I’ll make this easy: don’t buy the Pixel 11 if you’re using a phone that’s less than two years old. Most of the new features revolve around the software, and those will trickle down to older models anyway, so you’re not getting a whole lot that’s new with the Pixel 11.

Yes, the new Tensor G6 is a little faster, but it is still hobbled when it comes to gaming, and in my usage, I didn’t see much of a difference between the Pixel 11 and Pixel 10. There is better fluidity on the Pixel 11, but that alone doesn’t justify an upgrade. Annoyingly, you still don’t get decent thermal management on the device — that is limited to the Pro models.

I like the Hibiscus color that Google introduced this year, and the Pistachio model is similarly vibrant. The overall design hasn’t changed, but the camera bar looks a little cleaner this year, and it is a little better to hold. On that note, I like the size of the Pixel 11; the 6.3-inch OLED panel gives you enough real estate, but it’s much better to use one-handed.
The base Pixel 11 now comes with 256GB of storage, but you’re paying $899 — $100 more than last year — so it evens out. There isn’t a whole lot new with the battery either. The Pixel 11 has a slightly bigger 4,985mAh battery, and it uses the same 30W USB PD charging tech. There’s 25W Qi 2.2 integration this time, and this is a decent benefit to using modern Pixels — you don’t need to use a case to charge the phone with a Qi 2.2 charger.
It has the same trio of cameras as last year, including a 48MP main camera, 13MP wide-angle, and 10.3MP tele lens with 5x optical zoom and OIS, and it takes slightly better photos thanks to a new ISP and tuning changes, it isn’t a huge difference to the Pixel 10. Google’s new Camera Looks feature gives you greater control in customizing the look and feel of the resultant photos, and I like it quite a lot.

The Pixel 11 only makes sense if you’re using an older phone and want to upgrade this year, or if you have a carrier deal that gets you the phone without paying an additional fee. Outside of that, I don’t see a need to buy the device.
If anything, the Pixel 10a is a better choice if you just need a phone that nails the basics, and you don’t necessarily want a dedicated tele lens. There’s a reason the Pixel A series sells a lot more than the numbered devices; you’re getting a lot of the same features at roughly half the price, and there’s no way to beat that kind of value.
The Pixel 11 makes sense if you’re on a carrier deal, or if you have an older device and want to switch. Otherwise, there is little reason to buy the phone.
