Healing as a vampire in The Blood of Dawnwalker

There are several ways to keep Coen in tip-top condition:

  • Voracious Bite – Feed on your enemies.
  • Other healing-related skills and perks.
  • Consumables and restoratives.
  • Gear with healing passives.

Voracious Bite

Voracious Bite is your go-to skill if you want to heal as a vampire in The Blood of Dawnwalker. It can actually be used in and out of combat:

  • When used in combat, Voracious Bite deals damage based on its level in the Character – Vampirism panel. The skill uses one activation charge, and it cannot be interrupted once cast.
  • To use Voracious Bite outside of combat, hold down the focus button and look for a target–i.e. humans, animals, or monsters like kobolds. Next, press the button prompt to teleport to that target, then hold it down to begin sucking on the blood of your victim. You can get interrupted if you get hit by an opponent’s attack.

Note 1: Voracious Bite does not work on large creatures like bears and spectral creatures that don’t have blood.

Note 2: The Nourishing Blood perk increases the amount that’s healed whenever you drink blood.

Chomp down on puny mortals.

Other healing-related skills and perks

Various abilities also help improve your survivability:

  • Scarlet Shield – This restores a portion of your health segment whenever you do a perfect block.
  • Endless Hunger, Closing Wounds, and Blood Theft – This column of perks ensures that you can continue to heal up while remaining on the offensive. Endless Hunger increases your health segments, while Closing Wounds provides regenerative capabilities. Then, there’s Blood Theft, which causes attacks to restore recently lost vampiric health–i.e. grey health.
  • Ultimate: Renounce Death – You cheat death once per encounter. Instead of dying, you gain lifesteal via attacks.

Consumables and restoratives

Several items allow you to heal as a vampire in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Here are some examples:

  • Vials of Animal Blood and Vials of Human Blood, which you loot from enemies and containers, can be crafted with an infusion buff that temporarily increases maximum health.
  • Tainted Marrows, Kobold’s Blood, and Murohn’s Blood all heal you up. These drop from monsters and undead foes.
  • Anachora Ivy – This strange vine can only be obtained in Anachora, a nightmarish realm that you visit as part of certain quests.

Items like the Tainted Marrow (left) and Vial of Human Blood (right) restore HP.

Gear with healing passives

Lastly, keep your eyes peeled for armor and accessories that offer passive bonuses:

  • Maximum vampiric health
  • Vampiric health segment regeneration
  • Blood drinking restoration
  • Lifesteal from attacks.

That does it for our guide on how to heal as a vampire in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Hopefully, you can stay alive until the next sunrise. If you’re eager to amass money so you can buy more curatives, have a look at our silver vendor guide.
