Are you searching for all the Sword Shards in The Blood of Dawnwalker? These items are necessary if you want to complete the Forge It Anew quest. With these, you’ll be able to create one of the best weapons in the entire game.
Forge It Anew – All Sword Shards in Vale Sangora
The Blood of Dawnwalker Forge It Anew quest isn’t available right from the get-go. You actually need to explore a bit just to make it appear in your journal:
- One method is to visit any of the three caves that we discuss in detail below. Each cave has a mural that depicts the landscape of the valley. Inspecting it reveals the other locations on the world map.
- The other option is tied to a different side quest called A Monk and a Saint. You obtain a broken weapon and you learn that shards are needed to reforge it.
Note: Trying to obtain each shard requires 3x Time Segments.
Forge It Anew: Do Not Disturb
The first Sword Shard in The Blood of Dawnwalker comes from the Do Not Disturb sub-quest. You have to go just a bit north of the Maragir Wealds marker on the world map.
From the marked location, you’ll see a large and slanted rock formation. Pass underneath it and follow the path until you stumble upon a pack of kobolds. Kill them as you see fit, and enter the cavern to eliminate more hostile creatures. Once the coast is clear, pick up the shard from the nest.

Head past the rock formation (left) and finish off the pack of kobolds (right).
Forge It Anew: Executive Order
There’s another kobold cave further southeast in the ridges near Tantari. However, once you get there, you’ll realize that Xanthe’s soldiers have killed all the creatures. Read the note to learn that the soldiers have taken their plunder to a camp due southwest of Tantari.
Scout the camp first from a higher vantage point. There are several guards in this place, and trying to fight them all can be very challenging indeed. Thankfully, there’s a way to “cheese” this encounter:
- Bear in mind that the Sword Shard is inside the main tent in the middle of the camp.
- Go to one of the camp’s edges, preferably along the northern side. Attack one of the soldiers to lure everyone up the sloping path.
- While doing so, you might “aggro” a bunch of wild boar that, in turn, would attack the guards, too.
- While everyone is busy, sprint and circle around the swamps. You should “drop aggro” as you move away, which means you can enter the tent to grab the item. Do this quickly before any of your foes walks back into the camp.

You need access to the main tent (left), so try to lure all the enemies until they’re outside the camp (right).
Forge It Anew: Hostile Takeover
This part of the Forge It Anew quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker requires you to travel southwest of Boar’s Back. Just past the Giant’s Pawns shrine, there’s a cave that’s become a kobold nest. However, the resident isn’t just a mere kobold. It’s actually a Wrongs variant miniboss called Munch-Munch.
This type of creature has deadly attacks that inflict poison. Its claw swipes and breath spew abilities inflict this debilitating debuff. Try to block and dodge everything to survive the battle. When your opponent is dead, claim the Sword Shard from the nest.

The Uriash Blacksmith
Now that you’ve found all the Sword Shards in The Blood of Dawnwalker, it’s time to look for the one person who can actually work on the materiel. It’s none other than a lone uriash blacksmith northwest of Briar Sloughs.
Note: To clarify, the Sword Shards themselves aren’t enough. You still need to find the broken sword and its hilt. You can learn more about this in our A Monk and a Saint quest guide.

The northwestern hinterlands (left) is where the uriash blacksmith resides (right).
The final trial for the Sword of St. Mihai
Let’s say you’ve already found the broken sword, well, just hand over all the quest items to the uriash blacksmith. She’ll then craft the Restored Sword of St. Mihai, an epic-tier weapon. But why stop there?
The blacksmith will then tell you that you can improve the weapon further. Go up the slope to the northwest until you see an opening that’s covered in red vines and use your sword to cut through the obstacles. Inside, you’ll find yourself in a cavernous area with lots of dryad-like undead. Continue to the innermost chamber and inspect the altar.
When you’re ready, perform the ritual and spend 3x Time Segments. This begins one of the most arduous encounters in the entire game, one that has multiple enemy waves. All your foes are undead variants and it’s a slog to take them all out. But if you succeed, you’ll acquire the legendary Imbued Sword of St. Mihai.

This legendary weapon grants Swordmastery ability cooldown, weapon critical hit chance, weapon critical hit damage, and damage against supernatural enemies. The weapon art also hits a wide area. Oh, and you also unlock the “Arbiter’s Blade” achievement for your troubles.
That does it for our guide on how to complete the Forge It Anew quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker. You now have one of the best legendary items in the game, but if you’re looking for more, you might want to tackle Father Florin’s quest chain. Upon completing all related objectives, you should have four legendary items, including one that teaches a special Vampiric ability.
