The Tesla Cybercab, a robotaxi vehicle designed for autonomous taxi rides, is finally here, and available to customers – but not very many of them.
On Thursday, Tesla officially launched the Cybercab, making it available to users through its Robotaxi app.
The company’s Robotaxi fleet consists of Tesla Model Ys, Robovans, and now Cybercabs, and the rides are available in Austin, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando, and Tampa. However, the Cybercabs appears to only be available in Austin.

Tesla seemingly confirmed this by announcing on X that “the future has arrived in Austin.”

The Cybercab, originally announced in 2024, does not have a steering wheel or pedals; you can’t just sit in it and drive it as you would any other car. Instead, it’s designed from the ground-up for autonomous rides. According to The New York Times, the Cybercabs in Austin indeed do not have a steering wheel, but there’s only 45 of them in Tesla’s Austin fleet which is 314 vehicles strong.
Some Tesla enthusiasts, including Sawyer Merritt, took to X to post videos of their first Cybercab rides.

In the video, Merritt is seen entering the Cybercab along with his wife. The two-seater cabin basically consists of a massive display, and no discernible human-oriented driving controls at all.
“The cabin is comfortable and spacious, the suspension is soft, and FSD is VERY smooth. It’s an incredible vehicle. The screen is HUGE,” wrote Merritt in a tweet.
If you’re wondering, no, you cannot buy a Tesla Cybercab for yourself. Tesla, however, has opened a Robotaxi interest form as it prepares to sell the vehicles to fleet buyers looking to build a Robotaxi network of their own.
