Pokemon Go is formally closing out this year’s Go Fest with one final event dubbed the Mega Finale, and true to its name, it focuses almost entirely on Mega-Evolved Pokemon.
Like Go Fest proper, the Mega Finale takes place across two days, with different wild Pokemon and Raid bosses appearing throughout the weekend as part of rotating habitats. Moreover, the game will offer various bonuses for catching Pokemon and completing challenges, including the first chance to Mega Evolve the Kalos starting trio: Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja.
On top of that, the legendary Pokemon Mewtwo will feature prominently during the event. Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y will appear once again as Super Mega Raid bosses, while the seldom-seen Armored Mewtwo is being brought back for the first time in several years as a five-star Raid boss.

Pokemon Go Fest Mega Finale Schedule
The Mega Finale takes place across two days: Saturday, September 5, and Sunday, September 6. The event kicks off at 10 AM local time each day and runs until 6 PM local time.
Armored Mewtwo Raids
In addition to all of the Mega Raid bosses appearing throughout the weekend, a special Pokemon is returning for the Mega Finale: Armored Mewtwo.
The armor-clad legendary will appear in five-star Raids on both days of the event, marking the first time it’s available in the game since 2020. Like standard Mewtwo, this variant is a pure psychic type, although it has much higher defensive stats, making it a formidable challenge.
As with regular Mewtwo, bug, dark, and ghost Pokemon are your best bets to use when battling Armored Mewtwo, as they’ll deal super-effective damage against the legendary. Here are some recommended Pokemon to bring into battle:

Timed Research
Ahead of the Mega Finale event, players can begin a free, branching Timed Research story featuring the three Kalos starters: Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie. After selecting one of the starters, you’ll earn the Go Pass: Mega Finale, which will net you rewards as you complete tasks and level up the pass, including Mega Energy for your starter of choice–your first opportunity to Mega Evolve Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja in Pokemon Go.
Like other Timed Research stories, this questline will only be available for a limited time. You have until the Mega Finale event ends on September 6 to begin the Timed Research and level up its corresponding Go Pass.
Rotating Habitats
Just as during Pokemon Go Fest earlier this summer, the Mega Finale event will feature several “virtual habitats,” which will rotate every few hours. Depending on which habitat is live, different Pokemon will spawn in the wild, and certain Mega-Evolved Pokemon will appear as Mega Raid bosses.
However, a few Pokemon will be available throughout the entire event. The Kalos starters Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie will appear in the wild during every habitat, while Mewtwo’s Mega-Evolved forms will return in Super Mega Raids on different days. Mega Mewtwo X will appear on Saturday, while Mega Mewtwo Y will be available on Sunday.

Bonuses
Rounding out the Mega Finale event are a handful of bonuses.
For the duration of the weekend, Pokemon Go is lifting its Remote Raid limit, so you can participate in as many Remote Raids as you like. On top of that, there’s a chance that Pokemon you catch in Mega Raids may have a special background, and players who upgrade to the Go Pass Deluxe will earn additional bonuses like extra candy and XP.
