With competitive demands on all sectors of the global automotive industry growing incessantly, Daimler Truck has turned to NTT Data to install an artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure operations platform to take on monitoring and management across IT, cloud, SAP and network operations at a global scale.
Daimler Truck claims to be one of the world’s leading manufacturers of commercial vehicles, claiming that its trucks and buses helped shape the modern transportation industry. By the end of 2025, Daimler Trucks had a global workforce of 108,500 people, 53,000 of whom based in Europe, 26,500 in North America, 17,700 in Asia and 11,300 in the rest of the world.
The company has 35 main locations around the globe and offers light, medium and heavy-duty trucks, city and intercity buses, coaches and bus chassis. Tailored financial services are also part of its portfolio. Current brands as part of the Daimler Trucks group include BharatBenz, Freightliner, Mercedes-Benz, Setra, Thomas Built Buses and Western Star.
In August 2026, Daimler Truck North America announced plans to build a manufacturing facility in the US as part of its long-term strategy to support customer demand, enhance operational flexibility and strengthen its production capabilities across the region. It is seen as offering the manufacturer the ability to respond faster and more flexibly to customers’ evolving needs through growth, scale and efficiency.
The greenfield, purpose-built facility is expected to expand DTNA’s manufacturing capacity and strengthen both vocational and on-highway production. Designed with advanced production technologies and flexible manufacturing systems, the facility will support future innovation, quality, efficiency and operational resilience. It will also feature the latest manufacturing technologies and production equipment, and highly adaptable assembly processes to build a range of vehicle configurations while responding to changing market needs.
The NTT Data platform is designed to track tens of thousands of devices in real time, giving teams a single view across sites worldwide rather than siloed local systems. It also handles the practical side of keeping infrastructure current, coordinating hardware refreshes and lifecycle planning so production sites stay connected without unplanned gaps.
The system spots issues early using predictive analytics, automates incident handling to cut downtime and blends on-the-ground and offshore teams to keep things running.
Through the new deployment, NTT Data said that it can demonstrate capabilities such as real time monitoring and visibility of global manufacturing environments to enhance stability and performance.
In addition, it is said to offer Daimler AI-driven predictive insights to prevent disruptions before they affect production with automated, multistage incident processing that speeds up resolution and minimises manual tasks, reducing downtime and operational risk. An AI‑orchestrated global delivery model integrates on‑site expertise with offshore execution.
The scope of the project includes AI-enabled operations for IT and cloud infrastructure, SAP Basis and network operations worldwide, combining real time monitoring, predictive analytics and intelligent automation to enhance operational resilience, efficiency and visibility.
