Stephen King is never shy when it comes to sharing his thoughts on new adaptations of his work.

Carrie, Mike Flanagan’s TV show based on the author’s first published novel, is next in the pipeline — and following the release of the Prime Video trailer, King took to Threads to make his opinion on the show known.

The good news? It sounds like he’s a big fan.

“Mike Flanagan’s version of CARRIE is brilliant,” wrote King. “What it has to say about social media is shocking and true.”

Although Carrie was published in the 1970s, Flanagan’s version takes Carrie White (Summer H. Howell) into the present day of smartphones and social media, which is sure to put an unpleasant new spin on what the protagonist endures at high school.

Stephen King’s son, the author Joe Hill, also had positive things to say.

“I was watching this trailer for Carrie on Instagram and thinking how good it looks and suddenly found myself fighting back tears,” Hill wrote. “Never had that happen before, watching a preview. Maybe I’m getting a bit soggy in my fifties, I don’t know. Looks so good tho—Mike Flanagan sure can make em.”

Following its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next week, Carrie debuts on streaming on Prime Video Oct. 7.
