“Big Oil fucks more people every day than I can do in a lifetime,” said OnlyFans star Lily Phillips in a video called “Body Count.” But this isn’t one of her famous (or infamous) explicit clips — it’s a climate change PSA by Headline Newds, a project about sharing science and news about climate change and the oil industry.
Headline Newds is a web series created by Adam McKay (director of movies like The Big Short and Don’t Look Up), performer and writer Bree Essrig, performer, writer, and director Megan Prescott, and comms strategist and filmmaker Jessica Riches. Headline Newds launched in April, and premiered its second season yesterday with Phillips’ video, according to journalist Helen Meriel Thomas.
“Sex workers can change the world. That’s our ethos. They are the messengers we need,” Prescott told Thomas. Prescott spoke to Mashable earlier this year about how the HBO show Euphoria made headlines due to its portrayal of sex workers, while sex workers themselves are getting pushed off the internet. Both she and Essrig have been featured in earlier Headline Newds videos “The Sun is Daddy” and “Unsafe Words,” respectively.

Prescott and Riches told Thomas that they’re utilizing the parasocial relationships fans of these creators have in order to engage them with the message. And who better to help relay the urgency of climate change than sex workers? “We’re so used to people using sex workers for clickbait and not seeing them as human beings,” Prescott told Thomas. Especially ones like Phillips, who have made headlines for their videos. Phillips also spoke to Mashable earlier this year about misconceptions people have about her and her work.
Another recent addition to the Headline Newds lineup is porn performer Ivy Maddox, with the project’s Instagram promising more “very special stars.”
Sex workers have also recently supported fights for free speech and digital privacy. Stateside, performer Siri Dahl organized the “Corn Telethon” in 2024 and 2025, first to raise awareness about Project 2025, and then to advocate for free speech.
