While you’re making your way through Minecraft Dungeons 2, you’ll find Enchantment Books. Some of these have similar effects to the ones found in Minecraft, while some are new and exclusive to Dungeons and Dungeons 2. However, as you’re playing you might find yourself with a few Enchantments with no idea how to actually use them. Fear not, we’ve got you covered.
Enchantments are unlocked in Minecraft Dungeons 2 as part of the story, right after the Training With the Enchantsmith quest. Without spoiling the events of the story, I was around level 15 when this happened, and I had done a fair amount of exploring, adventuring, and completing side quests. You might find that you’re a lower level when this part of the story triggers if you’re not doing those things.
There are Enchantsmiths in most major areas, including right by the respawn teleporter in Brave Haven. To use your Enchantment Books, speak to the Enchantsmith. As you level up, you’ll get more Enchantment Points, meaning you can apply more, and stronger, Enchantments to your gear.
To enchant your gear, you’ll consume Echo Shards and Enchantment Points. You’ll combine those with Enchantment Books–that can be used unlimited times–to apply the effect to your gear. Different gear has different available enchantments. To level up the Enchantsmith and get the ability to upgrade your enchantments, you’ll use Echo Shards. Enchantments can be upgraded to a maximum of level three, making their effects more potent.
You can acquire Echo Shards by defeating difficult soul-corrupted mobs that you encounter throughout the world. They have a few uses in the game, and redeeming them at the Enchantsmith is just one of them.
Of course, Echo Shards are also found in Minecraft by traveling underground to the Deep Dark and avoiding the Warden. A very dangerous affair, indeed.
