It doesn’t really come as a surprise, but the Samsung Galaxy S27 series could launch at a higher price than the previous generation.
Over the past few days, we’ve seen plenty of leaks surrounding the Galaxy S27 series. First, we saw renders of the Galaxy S27 Ultra suggesting Samsung could take inspiration from the iPhone with a new horizontal camera module.
More recently, we heard that the redesign could also see Samsung drop the dedicated 3x telephoto camera. And now, a new report claims the Galaxy S27 series could cost more as well.
There have already been rumors that Samsung could increase the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s starting price to around $1,400 next year, up from $1,300 for the Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, the latest report claims the Galaxy S27 lineup as a whole could see a price increase.
The storage upgrades could hurt even more
According to the report, Samsung is considering an increase in the “high 130,000 won range,” which works out to roughly $100. But what’s more interesting is that the price difference between storage configurations could increase as well.
This could mean some higher-storage Galaxy S27 variants end up costing around $200 more than the model below them, compared to the roughly $100 jumps we’re used to seeing right now. The report also claims some models could move to newer LPDDR6 memory, which could be one of the reasons behind the higher prices.
For now, the report specifically relates to Samsung’s home market of South Korea. But if Samsung does increase prices there, there’s a chance we could see similar increases in markets like the US and Europe as well,
And a price increase wouldn’t exactly be surprising given what’s happening with RAM and memory prices this year. Rising component costs have already started affecting smartphone manufacturers. The Galaxy S26 series itself launched at higher prices for some models, while Samsung has also raised prices for certain devices in some regions.
Of course, it’s still far too early to say whether Samsung will actually increase Galaxy S27 prices or exactly how much each model could cost. But with component prices continuing to rise and Samsung reportedly considering newer memory technology, another price hike next year is starting to look increasingly possible.
