Squadron 42 now has a Steam page with system requirements and a Q2 2027 release window, but the listing is a visibility milestone rather than confirmation of a firm launch date.
Steam Puts Squadron 42 in View, but Q2 2027 Is Not a Firm Date
PC Gamer and Wccftech report that the page is live, alongside a new trailer. Steam displays Q2 2027, but that storefront window does not establish a separate, confirmed release announcement.
The distinction matters for a project whose schedule has already shifted. PC Gamer reported that game director Chris Roberts said in August that the single-player game was moving out of 2026 to avoid a clash with Grand Theft Auto 6. The new Steam listing gives players a quarter to watch, not a guaranteed launch day.
The storefront also gives prospective players a first look at the listed minimum PC requirements: a quad-core CPU, 16GB of RAM, and a DirectX 11.1-compatible graphics card with 8GB of VRAM. Steam asks for 150GB of available storage.
A 150GB Install and a New Trailer
The storage figure is the clearest practical detail in the listing: Squadron 42 requires 150GB of free space. PC Gamer also noted that the listed requirements do not specify a ray-tracing-capable graphics card, while the graphics entry calls for DirectX 11.1 compatibility.
Squadron 42 is Star Citizen’s single-player component, and its new trailer arrives as the project becomes discoverable to Steam users. The primary coverage names Mark Hamill, Gary Oldman, Rhona Mitra and Alix Wilton Regan among its cast.

Treat the Steam Window as a Target
Players can wishlist the game and follow its Steam page for updates, but the Q2 2027 label should not be read as proof that launch is locked in. For now, the meaningful change is that Squadron 42 has a public Steam presence, a new trailer and a release window displayed on its storefront page.
