Mandate Encampment location and key

You can access the Phantom Blade Zero Mandate Encampment zone via the Village of Lu. It’s actually in the eastern part of the region near the starting area. However, you’ll soon realize that the gate is locked.

To open it, you have to progress further into the campaign until you reach the city of Pangzhen. Eventually, you’ll face a boss named Gu Wanyue, the Wailing Wraith. After defeating her, jump down the well and follow the path. You should see the Mandate Encampment Gate Key right next to a Memory Flower.

Eliminate Gu Wanyue (left) so you can retrieve the key to the Mandate Encampment (right).

Mandate Encampment environment

Your trek through the Mandate Encampment takes you to the Cliffside Walkway, which leads to a sprawling battlefield. Watch out because hostiles will swarm you once you get too close. You can take two divergent paths to reach your objective in the Training Grounds.

Plenty of battles await you in the Mandate Encampment.

Notable rewards and activities in the Mandate Encampment

The Phantom Blade Zero Mandate Encampment zone has a boss that drops the Bashpole. This Phantom Edge weapon can be used for exploration, smashing through floorboards to reveal hidden treasure chests. Speaking of Phantom Edges, you can boost the damage of Destruction-type armaments by collecting fragments of the Guardian Idol accessory.

Oh, and as far as bosses are concerned, one potential foe drops the Soft Snake Sword, which is great for parrying blows effectively. Another starts a side quest where you collect the discarded relics of heroes, leading to a Soul Temper material as a reward. Finally, the aforementioned Training Grounds has a boss encounter that you shouldn’t miss, as it’s tied to the objectives in the Crimson Manor.

Bosses like the Corpse-Eating Xue (left) and Wu Lengshuang (right) offer decent rewards.
