One UI 9 is leaving some Galaxy phones struggling to stay connected

Samsung took its sweet time rolling out the stable One UI 9 update for compatible Galaxy phones. The final build arrived after months of beta testing. Unfortunately, it seems that despite the lengthy beta cycle, Samsung didn’t catch all the bugs, as many Galaxy users are reporting issues with Wi-Fi and mobile data connectivity.

Samsung’s community forums and Reddit are filled with complaints from Galaxy device owners about different types of connectivity problems after installing One UI 9. Some users are facing issues with Wi-Fi connectivity, while others are having trouble with mobile data.

The former seems to be the more widespread problem, with affected users even resetting network settings to no avail.

There does not seem to be a clear cause of the problem for now, except that the issues began after the One UI 9 update. Plus, almost all popular Galaxy devices seem to be affected, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, S24 series, and mid-range models like the Galaxy A55 and A36.

Worse, one Galaxy owner reports their Galaxy A56 stopped detecting any SIM card after installing One UI 9, with even the built-in diagnostic tool failing to detect the two SIM cards.

However, this problem does not appear to be as widespread as the Wi-Fi and mobile data connectivity issues.

6 One UI 9 features you should immediately try out

The One UI 9 features worth trying first

Samsung has yet to acknowledge One UI 9’s connectivity problems

What makes these complaints tricky is how differently they show up. One Galaxy owner said their phone could still join other saved Wi-Fi networks, even though it refused to connect at home.

Another could connect over 2.4GHz but had trouble with 5GHz, even as their other devices worked on both bands. And for one Galaxy Z Fold 7 owner on T-Mobile, Wi-Fi itself worked fine, but Wi-Fi calling stopped working after the update (via Android Authority).

Some users say restarting their phone or toggling airplane mode brings Wi-Fi back, only for the connection to drop again a few hours later.

Samsung has not yet acknowledged the issue, but given the number of reports, it’s clear that there is something wrong with One UI 9, and it is causing connectivity woes on several Galaxy devices.

After all, it is common for some issues to pop up after a major Android update. And given how many Galaxy phones Samsung sells, a bug that affects a small share of users will generate a lot of complaints.

Hopefully, Samsung’s November firmware update will address the connectivity problems for good. Until then, you can report the problem directly to Samsung or share your experience on the company’s community forum.

Samsung was quick to acknowledge a nasty One UI 9 bug that left some Galaxy S26 Ultra owners stuck during setup, so hopefully it’ll respond just as quickly to these connectivity reports.
