Sony’s Q2 FY26 earnings supplement, published November 5, puts the PlayStation 5 at 97.9 million units sold to date, and the quarter’s biggest first-party launch, Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Wolverine, at 2.4 million copies as of November 4.
That Wolverine figure covers the game’s first 50 days on sale. It launched on PS5 on September 15, and although the quarter Sony reported closed on September 30, the supplement states that “the PS5 console has sold 97.9 million units to date,” with first-party software figures running through November 4.
Behind Spider-Man’s pace
The same document shows how far the number sits from Insomniac’s previous franchise entries. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 sold 2.5 million copies in its first 24 hours, more than Wolverine has managed in 50 days. The 2018 Marvel’s Spider-Man sold 3.3 million copies in its first three days, per Sony’s own 2018 Year in Review.
Wolverine’s launch quarter was the game that lifted PS5 to a 43 percent surge in September while Xbox logged its worst September on record, and Sony’s figures still made it the slower starter. Reviews landed at a Metascore of 75 from 145 critics, with OpenCritic’s top-critic average at 76, and Insomniac shipped a rapid post-launch hotfix to turn off scent trails for collectibles, followed by a patch that let players toggle story scent trails with R3.
Where the rest of the slate stands
The supplement also lists lifetime figures for other PlayStation Studios titles: Ghost of Yotei, set 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima, sits at 3.3 million copies, and Astro Bot is at 1.5 million. Sony’s report does not say whether it views 2.4 million as a miss for Wolverine, and it does not break out whether the figure counts sell-through or shipments.
One concrete next date did move: Santa Monica Studio has delayed God of War Laufey to May 2027.
