CDPR: Cyberpunk 2077 Metacritic Is a “Great Achievement”, Some Were Expecting 95+ Score

If we keep having this mindset where these high scores on metacritic are reserved for certain people / studios then no wonder there is a big difference between critics and fans. We can’t go into a upcoming game thinking “Oh this game is going to get above 90 on metacritic because it’s a ***insert studio here*** game”

We have good studios who are talented but not every game they put out are going to automatically be gold, we just like to think they will be during the run up to launch because we’ve come to respect them over the years and liked their previous games, of course everyone wants to see a game they have been hyped for by a studio they love be good. However this kind of thinking is why we end up giving them free passes when they do screw up and allowing them to develop a potential mindset where they think they can do whatever they want.

We’ve seen how the mighty can fall, how certain studios can become a shadow of their former selves and it’s mainly down to people not saying something when the decline first starts to happen. If people be honest then that studio will get a wake up call and studios seeing reviews/sales starting to slip effecting their overall forecast is what gives them that.

Cyberpunk seems like a good game at heart but it’s buggy as hell along with other issues that make me look at these 9/10 or perfect 10/10 with a massive sigh. It shouldn’t be sitting above 90, it’s like giving the developer a pat on the back.
