Samsung’s leaked Galaxy S21 ‘custom’ colors are polarizing

  • Samsung’s “custom colors” for the Galaxy S21 series appear to have leaked.
  • Some colors work, while brown, red, and a carbon fiber gray might not be to everyone’s liking.
  • You’ll likely have to venture beyond the US to get these options.

Samsung is fond of releasing Galaxy phones in a wider variety of colors than you normally find in regions like North America, but whether or not you’ll enjoy its next palette is up for debate. WinFuture‘s Roland Quandt has shared leaked images of what he says are Samsung’s “custom colors” for the Galaxy S21, and there’s a good chance you’ll balk at one or two of them.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra colors you see above, for instance, include brown and a carbon fiber-like gray. They’re not horrendously ugly, but they may give you flashbacks to the original Zune and other devices whose colors didn’t age very gracefully.

The Galaxy S21 Plus colors (shown at middle) are safer, although the red model might rub you the wrong way if you aren’t fond of its copper-like accents. The blush hue is also more than a little reminiscent of the Note 20 family— not necessarily a bad thing, but not exactly original, either.

There are still some attractive options that aren’t expected to ship in some markets, such as the titanium you see on the right. However, it seems like Samsung will be somewhat polarizing with the Galaxy S21 colors it offers. Do you have a favorite color, or one you wouldn’t touch even if you could get the phone for free?
