These New Third-Party Nintendo Switch Controllers Are A Pastel Dream

PowerA is known for its affordable third-party controllers, and its line of Nintendo Switch controllers features some of the coolest designs we’ve ever seen. But while PowerA usually releases new controller designs inspired by a particular Nintendo property, like Mario, Pokemon, or Zelda, its latest controllers sport a more understated look. Available only for the wired version of PowerA’s Switch controller, the three new colors feature a soft ombré design, starting darker at the bottom and fading into a light pastel shade at the top. The “Fantasy” shades come in lilac, fuchsia, and aqua blue, and you can check them out below.

While it’s unfortunate these shades aren’t available as part of PowerA’s wireless line of Switch controllers, the wired controllers are still a fantastic budget option at just $25 each. If you need an extra gamepad around for multiplayer or for when your Pro Controller needs to charge, you can’t go wrong with PowerA’s third-party controllers.

The PowerA enhanced wired controllers feel very similar to the first-party Pro Controller and have a comfortable ergonomic fit. They have two programmable buttons on the back, and the D-pad is a bit nicer as well. However, you should note they don’t have rumble, motion controls, or NFC functionality for scanning Amiibo.

If you’re interested in picking up a second Switch controller but prefer the convenience of wireless, it’s worth checking out the full line of PowerA wireless controller designs–over 30 different designs are currently available on Amazon. These are slightly more expensive at $50, but well worth it if you’re looking for a cheaper alternative to the Pro Controller. Plus, see our guide to the best Nintendo Switch controllers for more options we’ve tested and recommend.
