Netflix is trying a familiar tactic to stay relevant in the 2020s — it’s duping a social network that’s all the rage with the teens. The streaming giant has introduced a Fast Laughs feature for mobile users that riffs on TikTok, delivering a never-ending feed of comedy videos.
Tap on a Fast Laughs tab and you’ll see comedy clips pulled from the Netflix catalog, ranging from specials (think Ali Wong or Kevin Hart) to movies and entire shows. Much like with TikTok, you can like segments or share them with your friends on social networks like Instagram and Twitter.
However, Netflix isn’t at all shy about its real goal: boosting views for its comedy shows. You can play the full-length videos if you like the teaser, or add them to your watch list to catch them later. The company clearly hopes that snicker will get you to watch a stand-up gig you’d otherwise have ignored.

You may have to wait to start watching, though. Fast Laughs is currently limited to iPhone users in “select” countries. Android testing is coming “soon,” Netflix said. That’s good news if you prefer your comedy in bite-sized form, but it could leave you waiting a while before you get some guffaws on your Galaxy.
