Cute EV Pickup Truck Gets Extended Cab Version

Another wolf p’up has been added to the pack, and it too is an alpha. The Wolf+ (Wolf Plus) has joined the Wolf as the second EV truck in the Alpha Electric Truck Series offered by the SoCal EV startup company called Alpha Motor Corporation.

As implied by the name, the Wolf+ is an extended-cab, four-seat version of the Wolf and shares its platform. The company emphasizes that it’s going to be built for utility and adventure, two buzz words that’ll be key for all electric trucks of the future. The extended-cab portion consists of two three-quarter size clamshell doors that open in suicide fashion (reminiscent of traditional extended-cab mini trucks). The rear features two permanent forward-facing seats rather than center-facing fold-down jump seats. A rear center console (cupholders included) separates the very upright, completely un-bolstered seats.

Like the Wolf, the range of the Wolf Plus is 250-275 miles; both are intended to utilize a 75- to 85-kWh lithium-ion battery. Both can be configured with dual-motor four-wheel-drive, but the single motor offering for the Wolf Plus is rear-wheel-drive whereas the Wolf’s is front-wheel-drive.

The Wolf Plus accelerates from 0-60 mph in 5.9 seconds, outpacing the Wolf’s 6.2 seconds. Likewise, Alpha reports that the towing capacity of the Wolf Plus is 6,724 pounds, more than doubling that of the Wolf.

The Wolf+ is 15 inches longer, 2 inches wider, and 3 inches taller than the Wolf. Truck bed storage increases from 34.5 cu-ft to 40 cu-ft. A futuristic bed extension hitch, an interesting concept, can extend the bed by 40 inches.

The Wolf+ starts at $40,000 to $48,000, whereas the Wolf ranges from $36,000 to $46,000. Note that the roof rack and extra exterior lighting are not included in these estimates.

The deep sand tone on the launch edition Wolf+ is called Twentynine Palms, inspired by the Joshua Tree National Park in Twentynine Palms, California. A crazy tent attachment contraption reminds us of the Cyberlandr and shows off the Alpha Plus’s potential for adventure.

Reservations for the Wolf and Wolf+ can be secured on the company’s website. The big question—when will the Wolf+ unleash itself, if at all?—remains unknown.

Is there room for two Alphas? We think so. The day that they roam the streets freely can’t come fast enough. Solidifying the sentiment is the ever-critical opinion of the internet, which seems uncharacteristically positive about this compact EV truck duo.
