Fitbit is one of the most well-known names in the fitness tracker industry. Last year, Google offered to buy Fitbit in a whopping $2.1 billion all-cash deal. While that acquisition is still not set in stone, Fitbit seems to be charging ahead with its first wearable launch of the year. Thanks to a few rumors that recently surfaced online, we are almost certain that new Fitbit Charge 4 fitness trackers are on their way.

There’s no official word from Fitbit on an upcoming Charge 4. However, it’s been two years since the Charge series was updated, so it’s only a matter of time before Fitbit releases a new entry. For now, this is everything we expect from Fitbit’s upcoming wearable.
Fitbit Charge 4 design and specs
We first caught wind of the Fitbit Charge 4 when UK-based accessories store MobileFun listed two models of the device on its platform. It has also separately listed two silicone strap options for the new tracker. The listings detail all the features of the alleged Charge 4 as well as pricing for its different variants.
The two models listed on MobileFun include a vanilla Fitbit Charge 4 and a Fitbit Charge 4 Special Edition. The standard Charge 4 lists Black, Rosewood, and Storm Blue/Black colorways. Meanwhile, the Fitbit Charge 4 Special Edition features a Granite colorway with an optional silicone strap in a Frost White color.
Not 24 hours later, the folks at 9to5Google got their hands on a few renders of the device (pictured above) via a trusted source. These supposed Fitbit Charge 4 renders revealed the Black and Rosewood variants, and they look nigh identical to the Fitbit Charge 3. They also reveal one button on the side of the device with the sensor stack and charging pins around back.

Not only do we expect the Charge 4 to look a lot like its predecessor, but some of the features listed on MobileFun’s website reveal a similar feature set. This includes a 24/7 pedometer, a heart rate sensor, sleep tracking, and IP68 water resistance.
Unfortunately, it looks like the new trackers will once again miss out on a dedicated GPS, so you’ll still have to carry your phone along on your runs. The good news is that both versions support NFC for Fitbit Pay this time around. While 2018’s Fitbit Charge 3 was also sold in regular and special edition variants, only the pricier special edition had NFC for around $20 more.
Fitbit Charge 4 pricing and availability
The standard Fitbit Charge 4 is listed on MobileFun with a price tag of £139.99 (~$160). The Fitbit Charge 4 Special Edition is listed at £159.99 (~$183) with a Granite colorway, and its optional strap comes in at £29 (~$33). This is not official, but the price range seems reasonable.
Interestingly, the new fitness band has also appeared in an FCC listing with the same model number as the one mentioned in the retail listing. This tells us that the company might be on the verge of launching the new Charge 4 trackers. We don’t know exactly when they will launch, but we expect it will be sooner than later.
