  • LG is reportedly selling off its unreleased smartphones to its Korea-based employees.
  • Per a leak, the devices on offer include the LG Rainbow/Velvet 2 Pro and the LG Rollable.
  • Employees can reportedly have the Velvet 2 Pro for around $170.

Before it announced its retirement from the mobile space, LG was still working on a few devices. One of which was the LG Rainbow, or referred to as the LG Velvet 2 Pro. Now, it seems that the firm is selling this device in Korea, but only employees can purchase it.

Leaked info posted to Twitter over the weekend by @FrontTron notes that only around 3,000 units are up for grabs by LG Korea staffers. The phone is visually similar to the original Velvet but packs a “pressure-sensitive touch sensor button” to control volume and power. Three colorways, namely glossy black, a glossy beige, and a “Bimetallic Bronze,” complete the look.

There’s no word on specs, but there is a triple rear camera array with larger lenses than its predecessor and a waterdrop notch selfie shooter up front. As for the price, LG is offering the Velvet 2 Pro to workers for around $170 — a fraction of the price put on the original LG Velvet. There is a catch, though. The phone will only see six months of after-sales service support and no software updates. Interestingly, the leaker notes the rollout is proving so popular that LG may halt the sale of the devices.

The company is also reportedly selling the LG Rollable to employees in Korea too. Per rumors, the Rollable packed an extendable display and flagship silicon beneath it. LG never pushed its latest Explorer Project device out the door despite several teasers.

LG announced its intentions to pull out of the mobile market in April, so don’t expect the firm to kick out more of these devices suddenly. You likely won’t find these phones lurking on the wild web, either. LG is prohibiting their resale.
