The FCC just spilled more details about the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2

Evidence uncovered in March suggested Samsung was working on a new pair of Galaxy Buds. Now, a new FCC listing seemingly confirms the existence of these buds, tentatively referred to as the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2, and some of its details. Spotted by All About Samsung, the listing uncovers more information about SM-R177 — the presumed model number used by the next Buds.

Let’s start with the specs. The listing suggests the new Buds may arrive in a rounded square case similar to the Galaxy Buds Pro. This should mean the next-generation earbuds will occupy less space in your pocket. According to its regulatory label, the case also packs a USB-C port with charging rated at 2.5W. The Buds are rated to charge at 0.6W.

Also uncovered are images of the earbuds themselves. The Galaxy Buds 2 will seemingly pack a similar design to the Pro model, including the removable silicone tips. Gold charging pins are also in a Pro-like position just below the tip. The Buds 2 measure ~25mm deep from the silicone tip to the outside of the body.

What else do we know about the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2?

No other specs appear in the listing, but earlier reports point to the addition of active noise cancellation and multi-device connectivity via Bluetooth.

For now, it’s unclear if these earbuds will directly replace the Galaxy Buds Pro or the original Galaxy Buds. The former launched in January. It seems more likely that the upcoming model will replace Samsung’s original Buds. There’s too little evidence to call it either way at the moment.

While Samsung provides no clear launch date, devices usually wander through the FCC just before their unveiling. If so, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 could see a debut alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the next Galaxy Z Flip as early as July.
