The Star Wars: Rogue One Disney+ Spin-Off Andor Adds Chernobyl Actor Robert Emms

The Star Wars: Rogue One spin-off Andor for Disney+ has added a new cast member. Robert Emms, who appeared in HBO’s Chernobyl and His Dark Materials, has signed on to play a role.

His role was not mentioned in the report from Deadline other than to say it will be a supporting part. Emms is not the only actor from Chernobyl to appear in Andor, as Stellan Skarsgard is also lined up for a role.

Diego Luna reprises his role as Cassian Andor in the new series, which takes place before the events of Rogue One. The 12-episode first season is currently filming in the UK and is scheduled to release in 2022.

Andor is not the only new Star Wars TV show currently filming, as Lucasfilm and Disney are also presently producing the Obi-Wan series starring Ewan McGregor.

Very little is known about the plot of Andor, but we do know that Alan Tudyk’s K-2SO will not appear in season one. “I’m going to be in the show. It’s just that the story that Tony [Gilroy] is telling doesn’t involve K-2SO until later on… I can’t be too specific, but I can definitely say that I’m not going to be in the first season,” he teased.

Not all of the Star Wars TV shows that were announced are coming to fruition, as it was recently reported that the Mandalorian spin-off Rangers of the New Republic is no longer happening.

2016’s Rogue One was tremendously successful, making more than $1 billion at the box office worldwide.
