A Bridgerton Video Game Is Possible

The Hollywood Reporter revealed Rhimes’ new Netflix contract and possible future plans for the combined ambitions of the giant streaming service and the famous TV producer–of which could include a video game adaptation for Bridgerton.

Bridgerton is Netflix’s most watched original ever, with almost 82 million member accounts tuning in. It’s no surprise then that Rhimes’ next contract with Netflix, negotiated on the heels of post-Bridgerton society, is a big raise from her initial 2017 contract, according to sources interviewed by THR. She also has bonuses built in the new contract that could earn her a lot more millions, depending on the success of her next projects.

Rhimes’ new deal will also expand to other forms of entertainment, including live events, VR, branding and merchandising, and the previously mentioned video games. There’s already a Bridgerton-themed ball set to launch in London, and following in the footsteps of The Witcher, a Bridgerton-con could be on the way as well.

Obligatory PSA that this isn’t the first Rhimes franchise to get turned into a video game. Grey’s Anatomy: The Video Game received a Wii release and is largely regarded to have okay, maybe better-than-expected, writing for a game primarily made for diehard Grey’s Anatomy fans.

Netflix’s plan is to continue to build on successful IPs, as evidenced by The Witcher Con held in July and the expansion of The Witcher universe. Season two releases on Netflix on December 17, and The Witcher’s prequel–The Witcher: Blood Origin–is on the way as well.
