No Way Home’ trailer sees Peter Parker seeking help from Doctor Strange

Caution: This post and trailer both contain huge spoilers for the plot and post-credit scenes of Spider-Man: Far From Home. Read at your own risk.

Following a dastardly leak, the official trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home has swung into action.

It’s the first peek at the upcoming instalment of the MCU’s Spider-Man series, with Tom Holland back in the Spidey suit. The trailer picks up where we left off in 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, with MJ (Zendaya) now fully aware that Peter Parker is Spider-Man along with everyone else, following Quentin Beck/Mysterio’s diabolical exposure of Peter’s identity to the world.

Suffice to say, Spidey’s not in a heroic position, reputation-wise, having also been framed for the Elemental attacks. In No Way Home, Spider-Man (Tom Holland) seeks help from our ol’ pal and time master Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) — yes, we’re ready for the foundations of connection with the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Holland insists previous Spider-Men Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire aren’t in the film, and we couldn’t see them in the trailer, but we did get a look at some Inception-style effects and an old blast-from-the-past nemesis from the Maguire era: Alfred Molina as Otto Octavius aka Doctor Octopus, who appeared in Sam Raimi’s 2004 sequel Spider-Man 2. And is that a Green Goblin pumpkin bomb? Looks a lot like it might be.

As that ominous voice says: “Be careful what you wish for, Parker.”

Spider–Man: No Way Home is slated to arrive in cinemas Dec. 17.
