Join Ultimate for $1, plus free Disney+

Deal pricing and availability subject to change after time of publication.

TL;DR: You’ll get a free month of Disney+ (a $7.99 value) when you sign up for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate now through Sept. 30. Your first month of Ultimate is only $1.

Microsoft has revived one of the best entertainment deals of 2020 — dare we say ever? — but it won’t be around for long.

Now through Sept. 30, you’ll get a free month of Disney+ when you join Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for just $1. (The Ultimate plan will cost you $14.99 a month thereafter, but you’re free to cancel your plan anytime.) That gets you access to over 13,000 shows and movies and over 400 quality video games altogether, meaning “I have nothing to watch or play” is no longer a valid excuse for being bored this fall.

Honestly? This deal is worth grabbing even if you never plan on picking up an Xbox controller in your life. Disney+ doesn’t run any ongoing free trial promotions of its own, so this is a rare chance to see what all the What If…? and Star Wars: Visions hype is about without spending a dime.

For anyone who’s unfamiliar, the Xbox Game Pass is a subscription-style service featuring a huge rotating library of console, PC, and mobile titles. (Pro tip: Be sure to check out 12 Minutes and Final Fantasy XIII.) It was known as “the Netflix for video games” before, you know, Netflix actually started working on its video game expansion.

The “Ultimate” tier of the Xbox Game Pass further includes all the benefits of Xbox Live Gold — those would be multiplayer/online play, two free games a month, and special member discounts — plus release-day access to new games and an EA Play membership. (That unlocks a collection of EA titles and even more exclusive rewards and discounts.)
