  • Olympus has reportedly stated that there’s no partnership between it and Samsung.
  • This comes after rumors earlier this year of a partnership for the Galaxy S22 series.
  • Olympus told Android Authority that there’s nothing to talk about or announce.

Loads of Galaxy S22 series rumors and leaks have appeared online in recent months, but one of the craziest claims we heard is that Samsung could be teaming up with Japanese camera maker Olympus for the new phones.

Now, Olympus has reportedly told Let’s Go Digital that there is no collaboration between it and Samsung. Android Authority followed up with Olympus as well and a marketing representative told us the following:

The only official statement I can give you from our side regarding this is that from our point of view there is nothing to talk about or to announce.

The statement given to us is ambiguous compared to Let’s Go Digital‘s information, technically not ruling out a partnership. We followed up with Olympus to clarify exactly what it means with this statement, but the firm subsequently told us that it doesn’t comment on rumors.

Nevertheless, if it indeed turns out that Olympus and Samsung aren’t working together as the reliable Dutch outlet reports, it doesn’t mean that there weren’t any talks to begin with. It’s also theoretically possible that Olympus is in talks with another smartphone maker instead. There wouldn’t be any shortage of smartphone OEMs teaming up with an established camera brand though.

Other prominent collaborations in the industry include Vivo and Zeiss, OnePlus and Hasselblad, and Huawei and Leica. Smartphone makers often claim improved image processing, better hardware, and additional camera modes as a result of these partnerships.

We’ve contacted Samsung for comment regarding the Olympus rumors and will update the article accordingly if/when it gets back to us.
