Most of what they are doing is comparing it to BotW here. Games need to be reviewed and compared with their peers. You wouldn’t put up a review of a mobile game next to a AAA game would you? Of course not because it doesn’t make sense. Angry Birds has a Meta of 80 and The Witcher 2 has an 88. Pretty close but they absolutely shouldn’t be compared as they aren’t rated based on the same criteria.
I doubt this is a 5/10 when you take into consideration what these 2 devs were actually trying to accomplish. Narrative and exploration are the 2 main pillars of this game; If it does those things well, than it does what the devs set out to do and the review should reflect that
