How to hide notifications on your iPhone lock screen

There are myriad reasons for why you may want to hide notifications from your iPhone lock screen, but most people can relate to this one:

Do you get way too many freaking emails? And every time you get one you hear the familiar dinging sound as each new email fills your lock screen with a reminder of your many obligations? Yeah… feels bad, man. Especially when it’s after work hours, or it’s the weekend and you’re simply trying to enjoy the precious interval of time where you’re not making money to stay alive. Emails, dude…

ANYWAYS, thankfully we can show you a couple different ways to get those nasty email notifications (or whatever notification you want) off your lock screen.

From your lock screen

1. Find the notification on your lock screen

2. Swipe left on it to see your options, and tap “Manage”

3. Tap “Deliver Quietly”

As it says, “Quiet notifications appear in Notification Center, but do not appear on the lock screen, play a sound, present a banner, or badge the app icon.” Essentially, these notifications will be hidden from your lock screen. This will not hide all notifications, however — only notifications for that specific app. For example, hiding your email notifications will not cause your iPhone to hide text message notifications.

From your settings

1. Go to your settings

2. Tap “Notifications”

3. Find the app you want to hide notifications for and tap it

4. Under “Alerts” tap the “Lock Screen” option until the circle underneath it is unchecked

Make sure the "Lock Screen" option is unchecked, as it shows here

Again, you’ll have to do this for each app you want to hide notifications for, but the process is simple and shouldn’t take you long at all. And just like that, your notifications will be hidden from your lock screen.
