Animal Crossing: Happy Home Paradise DLC Preloading Is Now Available

Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans eager to start designing some vacation homes can now preload the upcoming DLC expansion, Happy Home Paradise. It’s set for release on November 5, but you can download it now to ensure you can start playing right away next Friday.

Happy Home Paradise is the first paid DLC for New Horizons and is priced at $25. It’s available for free as long as you’re a subscriber to the recently launched Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. It’s one of the main perks of this new aspect of the service, along with access to a selection of N64 and Genesis games.

Now Playing: Animal Crossing New Horizons Happy Home Paradise DLC Presentation

If you are a subscriber, you can find a download link right on the Happy Home Paradise eShop page–it’ll be located in the middle, above the screenshots. You do still have the option to purchase it normally, too, if you want to ensure you can keep playing even after your Expansion Pack subscription lapses.

However you have access to it, preloading on the eShop is now live, but you’ll need to own New Horizons to play it. Happy Home Paradise lets you get a job designing vacation homes for other characters in a similar vein to the standalone 3DS game Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.

The DLC will launch alongside a massive update for New Horizons that delivers numerous features fans have been wanting to see return–The Roost coffee shop, ordinances, Gyroids, Kapp’n–along with many quality-of-life improvements and other new additions. Those include new customization options, permanent ladders, a shopping center you can pay to expand on Harv’s Island, and a whole lot more. It is, however, the last big free update for the game, which first launched early last year.

GameSpot may get a commission from retail offers.
