SAVE 42%: Don’t want to shell out for a $550 Dyson Airwrap? Get the budget-friendly Revlon One-Step instead — Amazon and Walmart both have it on sale for just $34.88 (normally $59.99) ahead of Black Friday.
This holiday season’s new Prussian Blue/Rich Copper variant of the iconic Dyson Airwrap styler is quite pretty, but is it $599 pretty? More-expensive-than-a-next-gen–gaming-console pretty? That’s between you and your bank account.
For what it’s worth, though, even refurbished versions of the standard Nickel/Fuchsia Airwrap ($549.99) might be pushing it; the cheapest one we could find was listed for $429.97 at Nordstrom Rack, and it didn’t even come with all of its attachments.
Fortunately, there’s always the Revlon One-Step, a budget-friendly hair dryer/volumizer that can produce similar results. (Wirecutter‘s Nancy Redd tried both devices and concluded that “[it] would be difficult to distinguish an Airwrap blowout from one done with the much-cheaper One-Step, especially after an hour of [sic] two of humidity.”) Amazon and Walmart have both put it on sale for $34.88 ahead of Black Friday, which makes it 42% off and a whopping 12 times cheaper than that refurbished Airwrap we mentioned above.
You’ll mostly be missing the “sleek” factor by opting for the One-Step. Dyson’s version is much less obnoxious in terms of both noise and design, and there are no accessories or attachments to swap for different types of curls, waves, and frizz control.
Not that anyone really seems to care. Beyond the glowing professional reviews, the One-Step is a mega-hit among Amazon and Walmart.com reviewers: At the time of writing, it had 4.6/5-star ratings on both sites from customers who appreciate its value and simplicity.
“I was going to buy the Dyson styler but decided on this first to see if this type of thing would even be worth trying,” wrote Amazon customer Lacey. “Needless to say I won’t be buying the $550+ splurge!”
