Ray Tracing Technology Included in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

because DF did not conclude this as a definitive answer this was supposition.
based on other game engines using the feature ray-traced reflections are measured in bounces (or passes depending on the direction of measurement.)

It may be that Ratchet is rendering it’s reflections at a quarter pass for obvious performance reasons.
(again supposition) the feature is no doubt very expensive.
