Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G gets One UI 3.0 update

December 21, 2020

Update: December 21 2020 (): It looks like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G is getting One UI 3.0 atop Android 11 this week. SamMobile noted that the update (version F707BXXU1CTL6) is now rolling out in Switzerland. So presumably it’ll be heading to other major markets in the next week or two.

Unfortunately there’s still no word on the One UI 3.0 update for the Galaxy Z Flip 4G. The two devices do differ in terms of chipset, so that’s one aspect that needs to be accounted for when pushing out updates.

Original article: February 17 2020 (3:51AM ET): Welcome to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip series update hub! Here you’ll find all the latest information on software updates for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Flip 5G. We’ll tell you what the current software versions are for each device and also give you a heads up when new updates are rolling out.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Update

  • Current stable version: Android 10
  • When will the Galaxy Z Flip get Android 11? December 2020 (estimated)

Exactly a week into its launch, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4G is already receiving its first software update. It adds a camera feature that was previously missing from the foldable phone.

According to SamMobile, the new Galaxy Z Flip 4G software update is now rolling out in the US and brings the Single Take mode to the camera. The feature was supposed to be available on the phone out of the box. However, it looks like Samsung omitted to add it in time for shipping. This could be because the Z Flip is already in high demand and Samsung is pushing out as many units as it can, even if they don’t have the promised feature loaded upfront.

Nevertheless, the software update carrying the Single Take mode is reportedly rolling out to all unlocked Galaxy Z Flip 4G variants. The camera feature allows you to capture multiple photos and video clips from the two rear sensors at the same time. You can then go into the image gallery to choose your favourite shot or clip.

Alongside the new camera mode, the update adds the February 2020 security patch to the earlier Galaxy Z Flip model. There are some stability improvements and bug fixes also in there. You can download the OTA update from going into Settings > Software update on the phone.

In August 2020, Galaxy Z Flip 4G users received the One UI 2.5 update (version F700U1UEU2BTGE). This brought a number of features to the table, including a better pro video mode, an improved Samsung Keyboard, and the ability to request a Wi-Fi connection’s password.

Let us know which Galaxy Z Flip update you’re rocking in the comments. Also, feel free to tip us if you’ve spotted a recent update we’ve missed!
