  • Google has rolled out Android 12 Developer Preview 1.1.
  • The update fixes Wi-Fi disconnections, wake locks causing battery drain, and other glitches.
  • You’ll still need a Pixel to install this.

If you rushed to install the Android 12 Developer Preview (aka DP1) on day one, you’ll want to prepare for another download. Droid Life reports that Google has released an Android 12 Developer Preview 1.1 update to fix multiple glitches. If you have a compatible Pixel phone, you can download the relevant factory image or over-the-air upgrade to get started.

The Android 12 DP1 patch tackles multiple significant issues. It fixes random Wi-Fi disconnections, battery drain from partial wake locks, unresponsive fingerprint readers, and a “System UI keeps stopping” alert. You can also expect solutions for reboot problems and other glitches.

It won’t surprise you to hear there aren’t any feature upgrades in the 1.1 software. This is strictly a maintenance upgrade to improve reliability.

As with the initial Android 12 DP1 release, 1.1 isn’t intended for mainstream use. It’s meant to help developers write for the new platform in advance. You won’t want to install this on a main phone or any other device you can’t go without. If you do have a device to spare, though, you’ll definitely want to install the new software.
