Michael B. Jordan Says He Won’t Play Superman In Upcoming Reboot

Actor Michael B. Jordan has seemingly put to bed the growing rumors that he might be tapped to play the starring role in the recently announced Superman reboot movie for DC. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter about the upcoming Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse, which is due out on April 30 on Prime Video, the performer demurred about the casting rumors.

“I’m flattered that people have me in that conversation,” Jordan said. “It’s definitely a compliment, but I’m just watching on this one.”

Even if Jordan won’t be the Man of Steel, the reboot promises to be, well, very promising. Ta-Nehisi Coates recently signed on as writer for the project, and his being hired alone is incredibly exciting–the journalist and non-fiction writer has long since pivoted to also write rich and deep reinterpretations of long-running comics like Black Panther and Captain America for Marvel. And in addition to Coates, JJ Abrams will be developing the project with his production company, Bad Robot.

That DC is rebooting Superman suggests it is moving on from the DC Extended Universe of Zack Snyder’s films. However, that world has of course been given another recent breath of life thanks to the highly anticipated and long-gestating release of the director’s cut of Justice League. That movie is likely to be the last time we see Henry Cavill don the cape, or at least that one.

Similarly, Jordan has also revealed why Sylvester Stallone won’t be coming back for Creed 3.
