The Switch OLED is likely the result of the ongoing component crisis

Something tells me they had planned to do more but just couldnt. In the DF video, they elude to there being a next gen switch in the works but due to the ongoing chip issues… it just cant come to mass market. I figured this upgraded screen would coincide with a tegra X2 upgraded model (aka Switch Pro) but seeing as they could not get the chips, they still went ahead with the screen upgrade using the existing internal hardware. All of the other minor fixes were made to mitigate the loss of the full fledged Pro model not being ready. So next year is more than likely the case for a more powerful Switch.

At least they have the screen ready for when the x2 units start to get made.
