Renders for notched Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra leak

TL;DR

  • A reliable source has leaked renders of what appears to be the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra.
  • The enormous tablet has a notched display, similar to the new 2021 MacBook Pro laptops.
  • The tablet likely won’t launch until 2022.

Earlier this week, Apple launched its newest line of MacBook Pro laptops. One of the biggest — and most controversial — changes for the new MacBooks is the introduction of a display notch, similar to what you find on iPhones.

Now, it looks like Samsung is ready to follow suit, at least when it comes to high-end tablets. Reliable industry leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer (via 91Mobiles) just launched some renders for what he claims to be the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. And guess what? There’s a big notch in the display.

You can see the leaked renders yourself below. You can also check out the 360-degree video renders in the YouTube video embedded above.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra leaked renders

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra appears to have a massive 14.6-inch display in a roughly 325.8 x 207.9 x 5.4mm body. The bezels surrounding the display appear very slim, which is likely why the notch was needed for housing the front-facing camera equipment.

On the back, you’ll probably find a dual-lens camera and the usual magnetic strip for docking an S Pen. There’s also a quad-speaker system, USB-C port, but no headphone jack.

Notably, this would be the first time Samsung has attached the “Ultra” moniker to a tablet. Hemmerstoffer says there could still be a Galaxy Tab S8 Plus (we saw renders for the vanilla Galaxy Tab S8 yesterday). If so, Samsung could be launching three tablets simultaneously, just as it’s likely to launch three simultaneous smartphones in the Galaxy S22 series.

It is unlikely we’ll see any tablets in the Galaxy Tab S8 family launch this year. It’s more likely Samsung will launch them in early 2022 alongside the Galaxy S22 series or possibly give the tablets their own standalone event. Stay tuned for more info!
